Pony Riders Phoebe Peters, Maisie Scruton, Erin Williams and Harriette William set for European Championships

Great Britain’s Pony riders are completing their final preparations for the FEI European Pony Championships which gets underway in Fontainebleau, France tomorrow (18 July). The Championships is the premier Pony competition in Europe, a multi-discipline event running over five days and encompassing dressage, showjumping and eventing.

The British Pony dressage team making the trip to France includes seasoned team members Maisie Scruton and Erin Williams. Maisie rides her own Renior pony stallion Rembrandt DDH (pictured) and Erin will compete on Dynasty, the striking palamino mare. Team newcomers Phoebe Peters and Harriette Williams will be hoping their good recent form will continue at the Championships. Phoebe rides the Lukas gelding SL Lucci and Harriette will ride the seven-year-old mare Madam’s Miss Maria, owned by Becky Moody.

The dressage team will take to the European stage alongside riders from 12 other nations. The team competition will run over Wednesday and Thursday and Individual competition will take place on Friday and Saturday. The best 15 riders from the Individual competition will go forward to Sunday’s Freestyle.

Last year’s event was held in Jaszkowo, Poland where the British Pony team finished fourth, just out of the medals, in a very close contest.

British Dressage wishes the team the very best of luck.
